The beach

August 9, 2011
The drought at Bear Lake is officially over.

The beaches have disappeared.

Water is pretty much up the our lawn.

It's amazing.
The last time I remember the lake being high was right after I graduated from high school. There is one advantage of the lake rising more than eight feet in a single spring (to a total expected to peak 5921 feet), it will hopefully drown out all the willows and weeds that have taken over. Last year, we had to 4-wheel out to the lake. It was way, way, way out there. Ridiculously far if you had to walk. But this year, our lawn is swamping and we have a scant amount of sand to play on. And share with the neighbors, but that's a story for another day.

Since the beach is now underwater, there are no seashells to be found. While this is upsetting to Pearl, Cole was more than happy to find all the rocks scattered on the beach. He collected quite a pile of them and had fun burying them in the sand and then throwing them.
