This picture isn't really from today. It's from the Logan Fireworks Show on Friday. But it makes for a good story. And shows off my camera skills using my tripod for the first time.
Pearl is obsessed with Katy Perry's song "Firework." Obsessed people. She asks me to play it on the radio at least three times on the drive to work and three times on the way home. And she doesn't take no (or in this case, I can't control the radio Pearl) for an answer. There's just something about the song's beat and lyrics that Pearl loves. She sings the chorus - or her made up version - so much that we've enacted a new rule in the house. No Katy Perry unless she is actually listening to the song. Otherwise the "ah, ah, ah" (or is it "uh, uh, uh"?) gets a bit annoying and weird.
For obvious reasons, every radio station has been gearing up for the 4th of July by playing the "Firework" song. We were lucky enough to hear it twice one day, once on the way to school and once on the way home. At which point, Pearl exclaimed, "Mom, it's Katy Perry day!"
Happy 4th of July!

Your pic turned out better than mine. I was too busy socializing to focus on the shutter speed. Good job!
