A lesson in sharing

July 14, 2011
This picture did not happen today. But I can't remember what did and really wanted to post this somewhere anyway.

This is Trevin. You've met him before, about a year ago when I took Cole over to meet his future best friend (he's the only kid in our neighborhood Cole's age and lives right next door, so neither have much of a choice). Well, last Friday, Trevin's mom brought him over for a couple of hours until his Dad got home. Cole was super excited to have another pip squeak his own size - and who was also a boy - to play with. Until it dawned on him that Trevin was staying for awhile. And that he wanted his toys. And his water bottle.

Once Trevin spied the water bottle the kid went bonkers until I finally gave him a drink. Which immediately sent Cole into a tizzy fit of hysteria. Apparently, it's not very fun when you have to share (maybe now he will sympathize with his big sister who has begun closing her door so Fern can't get into her stuff). To show Trevin just who was boss around here, Cole snatched the water bottle right out of his hands and then proceeded to fake guzzle it. Taunting him in the process. Poor Trevin, being the youngest by 10 and 14 years to his older brothers, isn't used to sharing either. He threw a fit and screamed and cried! His face in this picture makes me laugh, he was so ticked! And Cole could have cared less.

We're going to have to work on sharing if these two are going to be best friends someday. Or hope Trevin never learns to walk because he's about twice the size of Cole.
